Patience Strong embroidered verse to mark the marriage of Elizabeth and Philip, 1947

• This is a wonderful hand crafted sampler, dating to the 1940s. It was completed to mark the marriage of the current Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in November 1947. In the centre of the picture there is a beautiful Patience Strong verse and surrounding this verse there are delicate hand embroidered figures of a family, animals, birds, trees and flowers.  Above the verse the names of Elizabeth and Philip are embroidered with the Royal coat of arms and the date 1947. The sampler appears to be in the original vintage frame, which is in good condition except for a small chip on the bottom right corner of the frame measuring 1.5cm as shown in the photographs. The actual sampler measures 42.5cm wide and  27.5 cm in height. It is in excellent clean unmarked condition and the colours of the embroidery are still bright and unfaded. A superb find!
